Sports and online betting in Connecticut cleared its last major hurdle in early September when the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the revisions to the gaming compacts. This allows the Connecticut Lottery and the two federally recognized tribes to move forward.
Online gambling should begin in October just as the NFL season heats up. The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is finalizing the licensing and review process.
According to CTNewsJunkie.com, “The revisions to the compact between the tribes and the state allow for an 18 percent tax rate for the first five years on new online commercial casino gaming, followed by a 20 percent tax rate for at least the next five years and a 13.75 percent tax rate on sports wagering.”
Rush Street Interactive will serve as the Connecticut Lottery’s sports betting operations partner, and the state will partner with MCG client Sportech to operate its brick and mortar sports betting retail venues.
