When Apple released the iPhone 13 this month, it was more than just another product launch. Many experts believe this will be recognized as the moment the 5G era began to supercharge.
While the previous version (iPhone 12) was the first from Apple with 5G capability, and other companies also have 5G models, the time is ripe for a 5G explosion.
There are several reasons for this. One is that Apple released a budget-friendly, entry-level version of a 5G phone. This should make it more accessible to a larger percentage of people. Additionally, 5G towers are expected to rapidly expand over the next couple of years in both urban and rural areas. So more people all over the country (and world) will have the ability to utilize 5G.
5G will become crucial in our information economy as it dramatically improves the responsiveness of everything you do on your phone and on the internet. And on a larger scale, as CNET puts it, 5G will “deliver internet to your home without a cable or phone line with more speed and responsiveness… [it] will make possible new experiences that are still fringe, like augmented reality that works well anywhere, a truly connected car and smart cities that are safer, cleaner and more efficient.”
This iPhone is expected to be a catalyst for the market to expand 5G towers at an even greater rate to keep up with consumer demand. So the next time you see someone using their new iPhone, just remember, “The future is now.”
