Hartford400 is a 15-year plan to transform the capital city’s region into a more sustainable, prosperous, equitable, mobile, and vibrant area. Our MCG office is in the heart of downtown and we’re rooting for all this and more for Hartford.
The plan is the work of the Hartford Planning and Zoning Commission and the iQuilt Partnership. The initiative will rely on the cooperative efforts of towns, neighborhoods, organizations, officials, investors, and individuals to help restore the social, cultural, and physical fabric of the region.
The city marks its 400th birthday in 2035 -- thus the name of this ambitious initiative -- and MCG plans on celebrating the event from our office on Trumbull Street.
We’ve been in Hartford since our founding in 2006 and take pride that our roots are planted in one of the country’s most historic cities. Working across from Bushnell Park and in view of the state Capitol, we thrive on being close to the action and appreciate having the city’s restaurants and entertainment options nearby.
Here are some of Hartford400’s goals:
Take full advantage of the city’s location by becoming the green, river-centered crossroads of New England.
Increase the population and density by expanding the workforce and knowledge economy.
Continue increasing housing choices, density, and neighborhood investment to become a model of equity, diversity, opportunity, and affordable livability.
Shift from car-dependence to broad-based mobility to become a walkable, bikeable, transit-oriented network of town and city centers.
Continue to enhance centers, connect assets, and tell the region’s story to become a national magnet for arts, culture, and recreation.
We’re eager to see Hartford grow over the next few years and hope to pop some champagne in our office on its 400th birthday.
