Journalists surveyed in Cision’s “2022 State of the Media Report” said one of their biggest challenges is taking on heavier workloads with fewer resources and staff. What’s not helping is that 91% of journalists report that half of the pitches they receive are “irrelevant” to them.
Here are some insights from the study to help inform your media strategy.
76% of journalists prefer press releases as the number one source of information PR professionals can provide.
60% of reporters say it’s “inexcusable” for any PR practitioner to give them anything less than “accurate, sourced information.” This with the backdrop that about a third of journalists say that “combating accusations of reporting fake news” is their highest hurdle.
74% of journalists won’t accept “being spammed with irrelevant pitches.”
Looking for a way to stand out and make a journalist's job easier? 54% say they’re more likely to cover a story if the pitch includes multimedia content such as images, videos, and infographics.
