On a recent visit to China and Taiwan, Steve Jewett spoke to business groups about the changing political climate in the United States.
"North Korea's antics were not top of mind; the people I met were keenly focused on economic growth. Small and medium businesses, along with real estate, is booming in the major cities. You can see the new wealth that has been created in the last decade with plenty of BMWs on the roads and gleaming high-rise apartment buildings. With so many people to serve in China, the large sales volume is creating many winners. Even the small street-side food vendor selling dumplings is making a sizeable salary. Many restaurants stay open 24 hours to keep up with demand. The next big challenge will be to make this new wealth generation reach everyone.”
