With only 6% of Connecticut residents being veterans, this small but mighty group (and their families) is due much gratitude on this Veterans Day.
Here are three ways you can support our veterans through Connecticut-based organizations.
HonorBound Foundation
HonorBound Foundation’s mission is to serve veterans and their families by “advocating for and providing immediate assistance to them during times of crisis.”
Veterans and their families can turn to HonorBound for food, utilities, medical bills, security deposits, and other urgent needs. The organization strives to help veterans get back on track and find stability in their civilian lives.
House of Heros
House of Heroes is a nonprofit organization that serves military and public safety veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical and financial challenges.
Volunteers perform minor repairs and make improvements to the homes of veterans and their spouses at no cost to the veteran through the generosity of individuals, civic organizations, and corporations.
Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
Through generous donations or by individuals volunteering time at the CT Department of Veterans Affairs’ Rocky Hill campus or at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, the DVA is able to serve the more than 200,000 veterans who call Connecticut home.
