Internal Corporate Communications in 2022

Internal corporate communications is in new territory with the advancement of remote workers and flexible schedules. To better assess the challenges and opportunities for internal communicators, PoliteMail and Ragan Communications surveyed more than 250 professionals to better understand the current environment.

The State of Corporate Communications Survey 2022” is meant to be a benchmark for strategists to plan for challenges and take advantage of future opportunities.

A few notable highlights are:

  • There’s a demand for more automated systems to deliver content and language translation.

  • Email remains the preferred communications channel.

  • SharePoint took the lead as the top intranet platform.

  • Hybrid is the most popular work environment.

  • Analytics and measurement of communications across channels remains a hurdle.

The report sums up saying, “[In] the new hybrid working environment, communicators find themselves at a crossroads in effectively delivering messages to employees — and keeping them engaged — across a number of key channels. Add reaching deskless and remote workers to the equation and the challenge is even more complex.”

In essence, new methods are evolving and will require consistent reevaluation.
