Connecticut: More Home-Grown Than You Might Think

You may not consider Connecticut “farmland country,” but with over 5,500 farms contributing more than $4 billion to the state’s economy, agriculture is vital to Connecticut.

The state sees the value in agriculture and earlier this summer offered competitive grants worth almost $500,000 for farmers wanting to expand, diversify, and improve their existing operation. Grant awardees came from all regions of the state.

CT Wineries and Vineyards

An often overlooked aspect of Connecticut’s agricultural landscape is its expansive wineries and vineyards, which are also economic drivers.

Not only can you enjoy the taste of Connecticut wine, but you can experience the wine-making process with the CT Wine Trail, one of the fastest-growing wine regions in the United States. With a collection of 24 vineyards and wineries statewide, it offers many varieties of award-winning wines, beautiful scenery, and events.
