With Connecticut’s legalization of recreational marijuana comes the state’s launch of ct.gov/cannabis, an all-encompassing resource for navigating cannabis questions.
While the provision allowing adult possession and consumption of cannabis went into effect on July 1, several components of the law are yet to be implemented. Retail sales are expected to begin toward the end of 2022 and will involve a very specific licensing process and social equity requirement.
A few other areas of the site include: facts about the law; what’s in effect now; the medical program; equity diversity and inclusion; and the latest updates.
Gov. Lamont says the website is intended to be a hub that provides residents with the most up-to-date information about the ongoing process. He encourages those interested to check the website regularly for updates on the Social Equity Council, the availability of license applications for businesses, information on public health and safety, and answers to evolving questions about the new law.
