In these turbulent times we wanted to call your attention to some news programs that are available online that might help you focus on facts rather than opinion.
It’s easy to get into the habit of consuming news from sources that reinforce your pre-existing opinions. In that atmosphere it’s helpful to try to find someone who is delivering news from the middle of the road.
Though it is often targeted by conservatives, the old reliable PBS NewsHour is just that - old and reliable. We find the editorial judgement to be fair to all sides and the coverage to be generally sober and respectful of differing opinions.
Sky News at Ten
Originating from London, Sky News at Ten airs seven days a week, does an excellent job covering foreign affairs, and gives American audiences a perspective on how the rest of the world sees us.
Unlike American networks that report most foreign news from London, regardless of where it is actually happening, Sky News has reporters on the ground in most of the world’s hot spots.
The National - CBC
With the current U.S. president threatening a trade war with Canada and suggesting the country should become the 51st state, the CBC’s nightly broadcast known as The National, offers Americans a look at how our northern neighbors view us and provides an understanding of Canadian politics.
Bottom Line: Each of these programs is streamed on the network websites and they are also available live on YouTube.
